I served as a chaplain at my DAV chapter for a few years, but rarely had members coming to me

I have heard the same from other VSO Chaplains. In AZ we have training for our Chaplains at our annual conference. It surprises me how so many Chaplains are confused about the job. Many are just filling the position as they move up the officer chairs. VSO Chaplains, in my opinion, should have a strong faith themselves but often do not. I believe that is why you may have been under utilized, not because of your faith but the faith of your predecessors.

SFC Wade W. - I think you are right. And I had no interest in office.

SFC Wade W. Thanks for the bringing this to RP Members attention Wade. Its good to see you back out here on RP. I've not completely turned to religion, but I've definitely embraced more since I've retired and know a lot of veterans that have turned to relgion for peace of mind. I think it is important to find something that you believe in and the one or two things that give you peace of mind. I respect those that turn in that direction!

Colonel, If you ever want to talk about finding a closer relationship with Jesus, I am positive there are a number of His followers that would be most happy to show you how you can feel that indescribable joy of walking a daily path with the Living Savior as your guide. The good thing about it is, religion is only a minor player in your journey. But I am sure you know all about it. When you are ready, Come on in! The Water is Great!
