I'm not so sure what to think on this one. The shaved off serial number on the handgun is certainly criminal but I hope for the terrorism charge they have more than just the explosives. I can see a scenario where he was just making explosive targets like he said he was and generally didn't have a lot of common sense on why it was a bad idea to have that amount of the chemicals.
However, if there is some outside (perhaps social media) activity that shows something more sinister, that wouldn't exactly surprise me either.

I'm betting it's based on the amount of fertilizer. That's a lot of ammonium nitrate for a Vegas yard.

Yes, the filed off serial number is suspect but the "bomb-making materials" listed sound sort of innocuous. Methinks he was unduly influenced by a now defunct TV reality show. Remember all the exploding targets on Top Shot?

CPT Jack Durish That's exactly the kind of thing people (including myself from time to time) think is pretty awesome and of course want to try out. Some people don't do things by half measures. He probably watched Myth Busters too, lots of fun stuff to try there too (until my brain kicks in and thinks it may not be such a hot idea).
