Much respect for those guys of the silent service. No expert but from what I've read, a boomer on patrol of around 70 days is pretty much on their own. Not sure if even the NCA knows their exact position. Maybe they have it down to a sector but that's part of the strategy, from what little I know. A vital part of the nuke triad. The attack boats are a different story, but no less important. We don't hear about all the near misses or collisions as a rule, but I've read about them playing tag during the Cold War. Thanks for sharing.

CWO3 (Join to see) If You're Interested in the World of a Fast Attack Boat in the Cold War, I highly recommend reading "Blind Man's Bluff". I started My Career as an Off-Line Encryption Operator for these Missions. My Knowledge of these Missions also came in Handy Once during My Tour as OWC Diego Garcia BIOT.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I guess you saw the story about the Russian intel ship sinking in Black Sea. Collided with a livestock ship, allegedly.
