In my opinion, it is mainly because it isn't taught in school equally. All you need to do is watch some of the videos that are out there where people are interviewing college students. They have no idea about the reality of it.

My cousin's kid is a senior in high school and is well versed in politics and world events. When the Social Studies teacher started praising Chairman Mao (because everyone had health care), he asked his teacher about the 50M+ people that were killed during his reign from executions and starvation. Needless to say, he was sent to the principal's office and promptly failed the next test. Pretty sad for the class valedictorian!

I, like you, Captain Jack, grew up believing that communism was evil. I still believe that.....which is one of the reasons it distresses me when our POTUS talks glowingly about Putin and wants to have a good relationship with Russia. Did I miss something? Isn't Russia still considered a communist regime? Doesn't that make them evil? Why are so many Trump supporters ok with all the Russia business? People on this site still hate Jane Fonda for what she did during Viet Nam (and I can understand their feelings), but are willing to give Trump a pass when he wants to get cozy with Putin, a ruthless former KGB agent that has his political opponents poisoned, and rules a communist nation with an iron fist. I'm not understanding how people can square that.......
