Was good reading this. Reminded me of a night raid we did at the end of Infantry Platoon Sergeant Course at Camp Pendleton in 1988. We inserted with CH-53's and used the standard Assault, Support and Security team concept. After humping through the mountains most of the night secured the objective; a building protected by the Instructors, and then conducted egress via 53's. Hours of preparation and movement for a few violent minutes of action. During the debrief the Instructors remarked that the final assault phase was quick, violent, and decisive. I noted that these qualities were among the requirements for success by the author. I'm not Infantry by background but it was both motivating and amazing to watch these professionals pull this off like they had done it so many times before. Much respect for the Combat Arms and Law Enforcement people of all services that do this on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing.
