LTC (Join to see) Friend? Ally? Sometimes I don't Know about that. Don't Get Me Wrong I have the Highest Degree of Respect for the Indian Navy but they are Most Definitely Different. Let Me Count the Ways. During the Cold War Days they were the Head of the Non-Aligned Countries and at that time We had an Attitude if You Weren't With Us You were against us which was Just Plain Stupid. So they bought Weapons systems from anyone and everyone. A lot of what I did was "Signature" Work and you got to recognize the "Signature" of the Opposing Sides Electronics but the Indians with their Mix and Match attitude made it extra special challenging. If You saw on the O-Scope a Russian Radar and British Comm Gear You Knew it was Indian. Also while I wont go into Great Detail if any at all the Last Great Scare I got as Functioning N2 for the Indian Ocean was the Damn Indians! As a Spook in the Persian Gulf for Desert Strike I also Know Who helped the Iranians get their Russian Kilo going again, The Friggin Indians. Yeah they are Kind of Different.

Yes I can understand your frustration, your amusement and caution concerning the great country of India. I saw something on YouTube where the Indians had some Russian missile boats and this retired Admiral speaking in pretty good English was telling how he thought the pakistanis in some war or I guess the pakistanis were supported by us and the Indians were supported by the Russians but they think that they have these hydrofoil like speed boats with these deadly missiles. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of any of those period it kind of figure would look like an exocet missile hitting those British ships in the Falklands War.

They were probably just confused because of the massive amounts of Indian take-aways in Piccadilly!

LTC (Join to see) The problem is that nations change, and then that nation's relationship with other nations changes too. We have been at war on multiple occasions with nations now some of our closest allies United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, even France and Mexico. I am not saying you are not correct, but as you said yourself they were at one time allied with the USSR.
