Let's be honest. The military could not fully prosecute a cross dressing traitor or keep him in prison can't seem to prosecute a traitor like Bergdahl in less than two years (still waiting). They coddled and promoted Major Hasan due to political correctness until he murdered 13 people and wounded many others.
I am not sure this guy has too much to worry about. If he claims his is a woman trapped in a man's body and has PTSD he probably can walk away from this clean.
