I see no parallels to this situation with former President Reagan. That being said I believe privatizing control of this is a very bad idea. There aren't many things I believe the government should be in charge of... this is one of the things I believe the government needs to be in charge of. Taking the government out of supervising these operations is like putting the fox in charge of guarding the chickens.
