Job market isn't as good as they claim it to be.

Having not read the article I would say that getting good job related data would wholly depend on a number of factors, the primary of which would be marketable job skills obtained during enlistment. Which let's face it their are many MOS's that do not transfer well to the civilian sector, particularly combat arms MOS such as infantry or artillery or the like.
There just aren't many jobs for personal with those skills other than private security or police perhaps, and those positions are limited at best.
So, now there are an influx of veterans in the civilian job market who are unqualified for decent job positions which actually pay a living age and are forced to settle for less than desirable jobs while going to school or searching for better opportunities so it is no wonder that "first jobs" after military are not long held.

There are many employers out there who specifically look to hire veterans because of the skills they developed while in the service. Some are technical skills like IT, cyber, medical, etc, but most look for those soft skills such as leadership, effective communication, and a hard work ethic. It is imperative for transitioning service members and veterans to research what skills employers are looking for and to list those on their resume and to be able to articulate those during the job interview.

1SG Steven Stankovich could not agree more Top.
This would be a great class to add to ETS transition along with resume workshops.
