One thing that SSD offers that VA Individual Unemployability does not, is the ability to work part time. If you have a job, they deduct your earnings from your compensation, but, they allow you to keep Medicare for a year after you return to work, and if you find you can't work, you automatically return to disability.

It's much more difficult to work part time under IU, and there is no safety net if you try to come off of it to return to work.

Sir, the entire Disability process is broken and corrupt. No one in the military will say anything because their career will be affected. Look up IDES and Fort Carson.

The VA does need a serious review... But why doesn't welfare ever run out of money?

CMSgt Virgil Horsley - nothing is too big to fail. And the welfare is paid for by tax dollars and so is Social Security... with one big difference, you work and part of your salary is 'taxed' and put in Social Security, then when you reach retirement age you get some back. But welfare you don't have to work and pay into to get it. Social Security is a earned benefit and welfare is a given benefit. But yet Social Security is going to run out of money and welfare never seems to. So if Welfare is to big to fail and has no actual revenue source besides tax dollars from working Americans... then why should Social Security be allowed to fail if we are paying into it...

No welfare is not to big to fail... too many Americas are too lazy to work.

CMSgt Virgil Horsley - Perhaps not... sorry... or it was lost in the typed word... Social media really isn't all that social, when you think about it. I miss the days of sitting and talking with people...
