To this day, many in Egypt are loathing and hating Israel. A Member of Egyptian Parliament was recently fired and kicked out of office for having dinner with the Israeli Ambassador.

Remember going on advanced DEFCON as well when this going on. Later when assigned to HQUSCENTCOM learned all about it thru Gen Robert Kingston who was at assination as RDJTF Commander (later became USCENTCOM). Can only surmise but think things in Middle East would be vastly different today if he hadn't been assassinated.
