It has happened before and I most assuredly will happen again. But, regardless of reality, or how many times they are proven wrong about in thing or another, they will never fail to dream up some sort of scenario to justify their existence and insist against any and all actual facts that they are in fact correct in their assertions and the rest of the world is dead wrong...
I saw where money was mentioned in one comment, and that is actually true, to a point. But, the true objective of socialists and climate change idolitors is to amass power and impose their will upon others through the use of fear, ignorance, and intimidation. The money is only a means to an end for them...
Just my opinion....

Observation 1: The provided link goes to Conservative Tribune, an online, editorial website. It doesn't have an article about the cancelled expedition. It has an editorial about their perception that unexpected large amounts of sea ice in the study area "proves" that global warming isn't happening.

Observation 2: The real article about the cancelled expedition, from the Winnipeg Free Press, makes it clear that the large amount of sea ice was, in fact, unexpected. Normally, the ice they encountered would be miles to the North in stable formations. But, because of unusually higher temps, this stable pack ice had broken loose and was drifting into normally passable sea lanes.

Observation 3: Never believe a website's editorial about an issue to be factual or accurate. That applies whether they're liberal, conservative, whatever. Go to the source. You'll frequently find the editorial you read first is spinning selected factoids plucked from the original article/study to support their particular position.

Observation 4: My comments here are not intended to be pro or con about global warming. My intent is to encourage everyone to be aware of the difference between fact and opinion.

OK, I'll give it a shot. Our planet has gone through many warming and cooling periods, lasting thousands of years, in it's history. Right now, we are in an extended period of warming since the last ice age occurred. There is absolutely no doubt that the earth's climate is changing and becoming warmer. All the data tells scientists that (average mean temps, not specific to any one place or any one annual season) almost every year since the 1970s has been the "hottest" on record. Furthermore, the changes decade by decade, have accelerated. We can tell this from the geological records. So now, measurable changes that once took hundreds or thousands of years are happening in the span of mere decades. Glaciers are receding at far faster paces. In the Arctic and Antarctic, observable loss of ice mass has been scientifically documented. Passages north of Canada (and Russia) are now open that never were before. Sea levels are in fact, rising. We can also see it with our own eyes all around the USA. If you ask people (without the politics) about the changes in their lifetime, they all tell you. BTW - there are now 7 Billion of us living on earth. In America, there are 300 million cars... along with millions more commercial vehicles, etc. etc. It is clear to me at least that man's influence has greatly accelerated the warming process. Primarily, our industrial era manufacturing and energy production, which has largely been based on the burning of fossil fuels, releasing various, measurable gases into the atmosphere, which are referred to as "greenhouse" gases because they trap and store heat. Of most concern is the increase in CO2 levels. This is due to emissions from fossil fuel combustion, followed by aerosols (particulate matter in the atmosphere), and the CO2 released by cement manufacturing. Other factors, including land use, ozone depletion, animal husbandry (ruminant animals such as cattle produce methane as do termites), and deforestation, are also contributing. How's that for a start?

Sgt Wayne Wood - Just my twisted way of saying the politically correct will never admit when they are wrong.
