Did The Navy Just Admit The Littoral Combat Ship Is A Failure?

Sometimes you have to admit that a project is a failure, and cut your losses. The cost of the realization is the real tragedy, but you don't know what you don't know until you learn what you didn't know. Now if we can get the Air Force to come to their senses about the F-35 program we will be making progress.

Only the Navy can screw up a good thing. The best Littoral combat ship already exists; USCG National Security Class.

In my opinion this NSC/LCS should of been a joint venture with a Navy and CG variant instead of two separate programs.
From what I gathered from the RFI, I wouldn't be surprised if Ingalls submit a proposal based on this hull.

LTJG Richard Bruce Being that the waters that the LCS is designed to operate in are the USCGs home field, I would hope so. By that reasoning, maybe the folks who designed it should have designed the LCS for the Navy in the first place.

Yeah, considering the Navy only wants to build 1 a year now only to keep the shipyards proficient until FFG(X) is ready. White House bumped it up to two though.

Sounds like the LCS will quietly go away... hopefully the new FFG(X) will measure up to the new Chinese Type 55
