With regard to employee actions in the face of shoplifting, the business, not the employee, defines what is right and what is wrong. Much as I respect Jim Tinney's service, he didn't do "the right thing." He did "the wrong thing." Saying otherwise doesn't make it so. While I think Home Depot's punishment was a bit extreme, that too is the business's prerogative and may have been intended to send a clear message to all its employees. For Jim Tinney's sake, I hope management reconsiders now that the point has been made.

PO1 Tony Holland Doing Security, I Understand the Stores Position. Don't Put Yourself at Risk, You can Notify Management but don't Intervene. Chance of Injury to the Employee is way to high. Get in a Tussle with the Subjects and get Injured Now we have a Workman's Comp Problem. What if they're carrying a Knife or a Gun. Hopefully this Press will help this Fine Gentleman get another Job, Maybe a Better One.
