PO1 Robert Payne - Watch it again and notice that Miller doesn't answer the question, gets super defensive and just says total nonsense. Maybe even read commentary on it that is NOT from conservative sources.

Our immigration policy has historically been to "promote family unity". Anything else is recent anti-immigrant extremism drummed up by Jeff Sessions, Mike Lee and a more recently Donald Trump.

As recently as 1980 GOP candidates Reagan and Bush in their primary debate went back and forth about how best to help bring undocumented people out of the shadows and help them become residents and eventually citizens. Those two great republicans went on to practice what they preached with Reagan's amnesty of 1986 and Reagan's and later Bush's executive orders granting deferred action (sound familiar) to MILLIONS (not to mention with a pathway to residency), rather than just the 800,000 or so that Obama's weaker executive order addressed. THAT is our immigration tradition, and Acosta was right on point how the current administration, which RAN ON ANTI-IMMIGRANT rhetoric, is anything but.

Acosta should be terminated by CNN. What he did on air in the room and after on CNN is not news reporting and demonstrates conclusively he is in the wrong field and cannot report objectively.

Miller and others that agree with him need to realize we don't just accept the original document and symbol while ignoring everything that is added later. The message remains the same regardless when it was added later. A symbol of our country continued to take on new meaning over the decades.

The whole concept is stupid. First the Statue was a gift from the French and Second we have a flood of immigration exponentially higher today then we did back then. Fact is that back then few people could afford to leave the country of their birth.
