The issue of Cyprus being split between the Greek and Turkish sides and having the United Nations there since 1974 has no ending in sight. It is a mess. Both countries Greece and Turkey claiming the island and both being NATO members in a cold war state. The United Nations has Peacekeepers there since 1974.
If the British did not give independence in 1960, maybe things would be ok.

LTC (Join to see) Has anyone on RP kept track of the 'nations' that were 'granted' independence and were unable to operate their country as a State? I am not speaking of those whose independence America fought and died for either!

And - the Philippines, Korea, India, most of South America who apparently have been compelled to live in a Socialist state.
Postulating that the world ran with less disruption under the rule of major Nations would not be a stretch?
