Oh, I would be incensed if they tried to do anything like raise it. Luckily, it's so far down that I don't think we have the tech to get it. Glomar Explorer notwithstanding.

Believe it or not, the sailors that went down with their ship were the lucky ones. This is the first I realized we didn't know where she was sunk.

Yes, for sure it resulted in the worst known shark attacks ever with hundreds of the crew meeting their death from these attacks. I can hardly imagine the terror these men went through and the horrible death in that manner.

I have mixed feelings about locating this ship. I morn the loss of those who died when this ship sunk and the terror of those survivors waiting rescue for perished. My question is why? What will finding the remains of this ship mean after 70 + tears?

Totally understand wanting to find it. Now their families can point to a map and say 'there's my loved one', or even take a boat out there, whatever. Messing with it, now...THAT would be messed up.
