I am sure that CDS 15 is probably crapping himself right about now. My feeling is that the incident report will be done quickly, since this happened so soon after a stand down. The Navy is going to have to have a real long look to see if there is a systemic problem happening here, whether that is training, not enough time at sea, bad CO Standing Orders, watch operations, or what. At this point, I really have no clue. I know this CO, and it is unfathomable to me...

Rumors and only rumors so far indicate a loss of steering. That exonerates no one, it just explains some of the cause. if true Where was after steering and the use of screws and rudder control. I remember many drills involving just that emergency. BELLS AND WHISTLES as well as sound powered phones people!

LT Brad McInnis, having been part of a Desron Staff, if TWO of our ships had been involved in incidents like this in three months, we would be looking at ALL of our ships for answers. Then we would look in the mirror to see if we were doing something wrong as well. I have to wonder where the flag might be flying?

MCPO Roger Collins - I should have clarified Zero defect for surface. It was bastardized anyway by us that any mistake was not to be tolerated, not quite the same as you guys.

CMDCM Gene Treants - If they were pulling in that morning, there would have been loss of steering drills held. Normally conducted early in the morning....
