And where is the UFW now? WHY? Several years ago, Mary Ann's, California farmer cousin said his, 'people' make as much as $60,000 a year working in CA's Central Valley. Hard work, yes! Been there, done that!

I wonder how these people would have held up working in the coal fields the way my grandparents did, after they immigrated legally.

SFC (Join to see) Actually some of the individuals and families portrayed in this video, did come from the coal fields of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. A lot of the individuals portrayed were US citizens, and a lot of those that were not (US citizens) were Filipino. You have to listen and watch the video with a clear head to actually note the full information presented.
The origin of part of this was that the UFWs predecessor organizations were created in a backlash to the 'bracero' program initiated by the Eisenhower administration, which pitted American migrant laborers (Filipinos were initially US Nationals and later had special privileges that other foreign citizens did not) against the Mexicans that had 'bracero' (migrant labor) visas. That is the untold story of this mess. There is a lot more to this but maybe you should learn it on your own.
