According to Russell, “once it was described, and I take full responsibility for that with my paper, there was a common language for it. And knowledge spreads very quickly.” Scientists have been able to track bulimia’s transmission even into culturally remote enclaves following the introduction of Western media sources. It is estimated that bulimia has since affected 30 million people."

Finally a article about the hysteria about being "transgender". It's a fad that is destroying lives. Before this article, no one explained why so many people want to be "transgender" now instead of twenty years ago.

The use of the word has only been professionally adopted for about ten years.
Many of us were trying to fight it but transgender activist created a false movement called "transsexual separatism" with professional researcher assistance to paint anyone who wanted nothing to do with transgender or the gay community as evil people.
The truth is transgender is an illegal human experiment that has destroyed the lives of many to promote easily disproven theories about the social construction of gender
Its driving the kids who are really transsexual to suicide and causing those who are not to have very deep regrets

I wonder how much of this is that historically people who who had issues with their gender had no other choice but to stick with their assigned gender even if they never felt comfortable with it. Just like historically people who were homosexual got married, had kids, etc. and remained closeted for literally their entire lives.
I do admit to having concerns about young people still in the throes of puberty who naturally having trouble making sense of the changes going on in their body and mind possibly making rash decisions and undergoing irreversible changes.

I Knew by the time I was four years old that there was something wrong with me, life became nearly unbearable during puberty and the issues never resolved themselves on their own.
Being from a military family it was natural for me to follow the tradition, and I served over 20 years active and Reserve. I didn't thinking to deal with my own gender issues until I was in my early 30s, left the service, transitioned, then continued on in the IRR, being recalled to active service for Desert Storm.
I feel for these children, whose lives are being litteraly ruined by misdiagnosis.

PO2 Robert Aitchison what do you mean by "transgender people?) Transgender is an umbrella term that is not specific to anything. Basically transgender is a weaselly catchall term for anyone who"s appearance or actions deviate from the white heterosexual sexual behavior norms.
The only thing the word was good for was to force people into the gay community and artificially inflate its numbers and supposed support for it.
In fact if professional ethics and U.S human experimentations law is applied to it its an unethical and illegal word.

My belief is lesbian and gay are the only true transgender identities.
You can see Magnus Hirshfeld the famed Berlin Germany sexologist believed it and so did Harry Hay the founder of the modern gay rights movement they both saw themselves as third gender.
Transsexual and transvestites do not identify as a third gender.

Harry Hay (1912-2002) is best known as the founder of the U.S. gay movement but is increasingly known as a pioneer of gay spirituality. He started the Mattachine Society in 1950 and launched the Radical Faerie movement in 1979. I agree, there is a huge transgender bandwagon, and it's decidedly unhealthy. We now have pediatricians who have climbed on board and will actively steer children toward transgender treatment. It's in-freaking-sane.
