When you have no moral compass, you are constantly swinging in the winds... Hollywood no longer has the moral authority to try and tell anyone anything...

Cpl Jeff N. - He is a pig. Anyone who does what Weinstein is accused of doing is a pig undeserving of support. What I object to is the inference by the OP that this is somehow acceptable to the left, but not the right. The story is remarkably similar to stories and lawsuits involving our current president, or Roger Ailes at Fox, or Bill O'Reilly's five settlements, or the multitude of other cases.

Would you like to discuss those cases, together with Weinstein's? Or is it just the left-wing pigs that you have a problem with?

Capt Gregory Prickett - We have discussed the Ailes and OReilly issues on many threads. I have been clear that if they are guilty of a crime they should be punished. Harassment isn't a crime, assault or rape would be. As far as I know there are no criminal complaints.

The issue in this post is Weinstein. The coziness of Hollywood and democrats has been on going for a long time. Weinstein is a power broker in Hollywood and has very strong ties to both democrat candidates and many of those in Hollywood that support those candidates. The money has been flowing and the quid pro quo seems more clear now than ever.

The difference with the Fox stories, I believe, is there is no criminal activity. Inappropriate conduct and action but not a crime.

Weinstein us tied to two former presidents, multiple senators and representatives and governers etc. Do you expect me to believe that if it was fairly common knowledge Weinstein was a pig, they did not know it?

How do you feel about the feminists in Hollywood that went through the wringer with Harvey, made their millions, love to lecture everyone else and remained silent about the crimes so the money would keep flowing? How many dozens of women were sexually assaulted because of the silence, the complicity of those in Hollywood and those in the political realm that new and kept their mouths shut for the money?

Cpl Jeff N. - the issue in my response to the original poster was that sexual harassment was not limited to liberals. The allegations against Trump involved a potential for criminal charges, and his behavior towards women is appalling. You can't get any higher in the power structure than President (and it's not limited to him, Clinton had issues too).

I think that they are all scum but I'm also not blinded by politics to the point that I only want to focus on one ideology as being the bad one.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Greg, it is not that Weinstein is the only one, just a very bad one. The charges against Trump by women and orgs from the left had no legs. None were taken forward, no criminal complaints filed, some recanted their statements etc. We all know that was a political hit on him by the left to hobble his campaign. Some, to this day, think those charges to be legitimate even though, apparently, none of the women do as the clammed up after the election.

We know there are GOP members that have gotten into trouble. They tend to be expelled by the party pretty quickly. There is nothing close to what is being alleged here and the unholy alliance between Hollywood, the DNC, sitting democrat leaders (and former) and the money that flows from Hollywood. I will wait for your example that comes close to this unmitigated cluster.

Here is part of the reason it took so long; they didn't want to kill their cash cow while the all made millions.

The status quo prevailed because Weinstein had money and power beyond compare in Hollywood and Washington DC. He gave money liberally to democrat office holders and candidates. He was very close to two US presidents and their families (Clinton and Obama) Who would believe some up and coming starlet over this famous, rich, powerful man, friends with presidents, congressmen and Hollywood moguls?

He "owned" many politicians through the purse strings who likely turned a blind eye to the collateral damage of the women he abused. You know, the greater good theory. The money was good, the access to Hollywood and their star power, even better. I wonder what Hillary had to do to get all of those stars campaigning for her?

The women that made it through the Weinstein gauntlet of sexual harassment and assault remained silent likely because they didn't want their success tarnished if it was learned they were either assaulted/raped or did sexual favors to advance their career. Some probably went to the casting couch willingly to get their chance, others were likely thrown on it and pinned down.

Weinstein didn't care, voluntary or not, you were paying your dues with him. He made that clear in the video we now have thanks to a police wire and someone that said "enough".

The fact that feminists in Hollywood, once they made it, allowed this guy to continue to sexually mistreat/harass/rape scores of other women is unconscionable. Make no mistake, this was known and covered up for years. by the same people that preach to you at the Oscars every single year.

This was the most thorough explanation of why and contains the one important fact the complicit media won’t say as they extol for bravery; waiting to say something propping up this pig allowed his behavior to continue. That is tacitly condoning, at least the equivalent of protecting him. I’m glad they finally stood, but it’s not the same telling the story after the cats out of the bag. How many of these stories does the public need to hear to know these guys are all arrogant, power-hungry, rich self-indulged perverts.

Cpl Jeff N. Absolutely spot on! I, in no form of mental gymnastics, can condone the fact that these successful (I have a hard time calling Paltrow successful) kept quiet years after the incidents, which allowed more women to get assaulted. I have never listened to too much Hollywood morality, but now anytime they are going to go out and tell Americans how they should think, I am just going to yell Weinstein!
