There is only ONE viable renewable source of energy. Nuclear. Full stop period. Wind and solar will never be a viable alternative. Full stop period. We should not be cutting our ties to fossil fuels until we have replaced it with nuclear. Full stop period. And we should be hardening the power grid. Again, full stop period.

I say we open up the Harry Reid Is yuck a mountain Nuclear Depository.
The Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository in Nevada is dormant and there is no current plan to construct it.
History
In 2002, Congress selected Yucca Mountain as the site for the nation's nuclear waste
The Obama administration terminated funding for the project in 2011
The Trump, Obama, and Biden administrations have all blocked efforts to build the repository
Current status
The site has been abandoned and there are no waste disposal tunnels
The site lacks a water permit, construction authorization, and federal land withdrawal
There is no railroad access to the site
Future prospects
The Biden administration has proposed interim storage sites while Congress works on restarting Yucca Mountain
Some Republicans and Democrats are reconsidering the idea of reviving Yucca Mountain
However, the process could take decades
Opposition
Opposition to Yucca Mountain includes political leaders, business leaders, environmental leaders, and tribal leaders
Some say that transporting waste to Yucca Mountain puts the public at risk.

Putting all this nuclear waste together is not going to cause a nuclear explosion like Space 1999. Is everything involves risk.

Nuclear is technically not renewable, uranium is a finite source.
But it is the most efficient energy source by a mile.

But also the most expensive source of electricity

What are capacity factors and why are they important?
The capacity factor is a crucial measure for electricity generation. It represents the ratio of actual electrical energy production to the maximum possible output over a specific period. Nuclear plants lead with a 90%+ factor, while renewable sources like wind and solar struggle due to intermittency. New challenges arise with climate change impacting demand and production patterns.
