3 Nebraska Pearl Harbor survivors join to share memories

CENTRAL CITY, Neb. — History placed Nebraskans Earl Brandes, Ed Guthrie and Lawrence Osterbuhr in Honolulu on that infamous date in 1941 when Japanese planes laid waste to the Navy's battleship row at Pearl Harbor.
Nearly 75 years later, history reunited the three men Wednesday back in their home state: Brandes, 95, of Central City; Guthrie, 97, of Omaha; and Osterbuhr, 96, of Hildreth.

Central City. Practically half that town is relation. If they are a Stuart or a Norgard, they are family. And while I knew that town had history, I didn't know it had Pearl Harbor history.

Sgt Kieth Bodine, Great post. I'm a lifelong Nebraskan and a Vietnam combat Vet. I appreciate your post. We don't have many WW2 vets left and a lot of their stories are going with them. I'm a 73 year old vietnam vet and I caught the end of the war in 1970 at 19 years old and a lot of my comrads in arms are gone. I guess that we have to thank God for still being here

It's been amazing, so many of these men have been given the opportunity to reunite this past year to see there brothers at arms from pearl harbor and other battle sites from world war two.
