It is easy to just say to someone, move one she doesn't deserve you. But it is a traumatic event. You never know how someone is going to react to this. That is kind of why adultery is against the UCMJ. Don't mess around with anyone's wife or girlfriend for that matter. If you are interested in someone make sure they are not married for crying out loud. It is a good rule of thumb. Hell no guarantee she will not go back to her husband anyway.

So reading that She had her own Apartment which leads me to believe they were separated and getting a divorce...?

Anyone else pick up on that? I mean at that point it kind of proves why she needed the divorce to begin with. He kicked in HER apartment door and then shot through HER bedroom door and slashed the tires to her car... ya seems he wasn't living there. I hope they through the book at him and then beat him in Leavenworth with it.

The associated video said they were estranged - which means they were at least separated.

I can't disagree, I did not read or view, but based on what you've posted, this guy was a loose cannon and a loser. No wonder she bailed. Hopefully he will have many years to contemplate how stupid his actions were.

He won't go to Leavenworth or even be tried by the Army. It's under the jurisdiction of civil authorities. All his pay and allowances will be stopped until he is released, Chances are he will be tried and convicted and the Army will Admin separate him while he is doing time.

The headline, as usual, is misleading. They make it sound like a crime of passion when it is a premeditated crime. I do not understand the need to share this article.

Despite that, I think there are still some important teaching points here.

SFC Tony Bennett - There are: The original article from which this article was taken stated he kicked in the door to his estranged wife's apartment. A big difference from his wife's apartment. Estranged, defined as separated and living apart from one's spouse indicates they are probably in the process of a divorce.

He fired shots indicating he meant to harm. He slashed tires prior to the attack...he thought out and planned what he was going to do. The article said it was her apartment, not their apartment. He had no business being there.

Unfortunately, he let his emotions, (speculation) probably bolstered by alcohol get out of hand and he will now spend a large part of his remaining life in prison. It is sad. but he could have been charged with murder instead of attempted murder.

Yes, there are important teaching points here, sadly, none of them would have prevented what happened today. There was no temporary insanity or crime of passion. They have been living apart long enough for her to have moved out, find an apartment, and move in. There was probably a divorce in the works and legally, once she filed for a divorce or moved out, she can sleep with whomever she wants.

Thanks for the comment.
