I'm thankful someone made this. I arrived in the middle of the night in May, 1967, and didn't see much of anything. There were no lights. We and are baggage were thrown off the plane as quickly as possible and herded on to buses, so the plane could get airborne before the mortars started falling. (Sometimes they came before the troops made it to the buses and everybody had to scatter)

I arrived at Bien Hoa at dusk, 49 years ago yesterday, 30 October, 1968. After money exchange, they called for all who had orders to MACV to get on a waiting bus. The first thing I noticed was the 2 MOs riding shotgun, the second a wire mesh covering all the windows. Some guy commented that the mesh could not keep bugs out. Someone explained to him that it was not there for bugs.
We rode that bus to MAVC Hqs, outside Ton Son Nuit.

I also arrived in the middle of the night, but the mortars were already falling. The bus ride, 10 or 15 minutes was scary.
