PO1 Tony Holland You do know that this is only wishful thinking on the part of Trump Haters. Mueller has no authority to issue or even request such an order.

I think the whole world wishes Trump would shut up, or at least loose his twitter feed.

He has absolute authority to request the order. Whether or not it would stand is another question, as it would be a case of first impression, but based on other rulings it would likely be upheld.

He might have authority but I don't think it would stick.

SPC Erich Guenther - People made the same argument when US District Judge John Sirica issued a subpoena to President Richard Nixon to turn over the Watergate Tapes. The same happened when Judge Susan Wright ordered that President Clinton be deposed in Jones v. Clinton. In both cases SCOTUS upheld the power of the judge to act.

And the really funny part is that Kellyanne Conway's husband was involved in writing the briefs for the Jones legal team that argued that the President had to be treated just like everyone else...

Misleading headline and all speculation. A former Watergate prosecutor said he "could" request a judge issue a gag order. The judge says she "might be inclined" to issue one. Unless it was a strategic move to add to obstruction if Trump fired the judge, I think Mueller would be wary of such a move. It would not be well received and could lead to his removal. The optics might make Mueller appear as being above the POTUS. In terms of the law it might be permissible, but not wise IMO.

OMG - That may be an interesting approach!!! Raises many privilege & immunity questions. Perhaps the order could put an end to the president's constant and annoying public tweets. Much Love, Sandy :)
