Donald Trump backed Luther Strange in the Alabama Senate primary in September. Strange lost.
He backed Ed Gillespie in the Virginia Governor's race. Gillespie lost too. Then, against the advice of staff and family (Ivanka came out against Moore early), Trump endorsed Moore, and lost again.
Thus far, the Donald has been batting .000, so if you want to get elected, you may not want his endorsement.

Yeah, I saw that Roy was being a sore loser. His campaign manager referred to a recount provision that kicked in if the margin was 0.5% or less. Here the margin is three times that.

You conveniently forget the 4 races the GOP won after the 2016 election. So the average isn't exactly .000 if you know how to calculate a batting average. Let's call it 6 at bats, 4 hits and two put outs so about 660 assuming none of the 5 the GOP won were walks or hit by pitch etc. You might recall Handel in GA, Estes in KS, Norman in SC, & Gianforte in MO. There might be one more I am forgetting.
You know Gillespie was a blue candidate in a blue state so he was expected to win in Virginia. Trump endorsed the GOP candidate because that is what you do when you are the head of the party.
Moore is another case altogether. He had everything thrown at him including the kitchen sink. Joe Trippi (who ran/worked on multiple presidential campaigns for the DNC) stepped in to run the Jones campaign, every national democrat figure they could get showed up there (Obama, Biden, Booker, etc) They brought in the celebrities too. Those #meetoo allegations hosted by Gloria Allred were the reason Moore was left to fend for himself. The money spent to win that seat and the abandonment by the national GOP spelled doom for Moore.
The national GOP quivers at the rattle of the sabers of the #meetoo movement. We will never know about those allegations as they are not prosecutable and these women and dear Gloria will vaporize now that they got their way.
BTW, it is always fun to watch defense lawyers who laud the presumption of innocence for their clients have zero consideration of the same for their political adversaries. In your eyes he is guilty even though you call them allegations.
