From a technicality point of view, airpower was not "precision" yet. Remember the big hoo-hah made by the USAAC when the first B-17's intercepted the liner Roma at sea. German propaganda also made great deals about Stuka's and their invincibility. Artillery on the other hand, was a strategic weapon pre-1935. Even as late as 1942, artillery was the ultimate anti-shipping weapon for coastal defense and AAA. Against a "basic", non-technical enemy like Russia, large scale artillery like mortars and rail guns were effective. Once Russia figured out how to fight, they became white elephants.

Agree to disagree, when you adopt a "blitzkrieg style of warfare," centralized around speed and maneuver, big heavy rail guns are not in the equation, you are now back to the basis of trench warfare.

Thats correct - the Blitzkrieg ran out in Russia. The Germans were forced to fight like everyone else.

Couldn't keep up with the panzers. Saw some action in the Ukraine. The Soviet and German rails were different gauges so the tracks had to be relaid for these monsters to go anywhere.
