Its very sad how they were treated. A dark time in American history. Not the war, but the way the military was treated.
Since most of those Vietnam vets were drafted it’s even more of an insult that they were treated so poorly.

Actually, most who served in Vietnam were volunteers, a far greater percentage than those who served in WWII. Sadly, when you walked the streets of America in uniform in those days, it didn't matter if you served in Vietnam or not. All were equally mistreated...

CPT Jack Durish - I can testify to that. When I disembarked at SanFran airport I caught a lot of hostile glares, but fortunately, no one came up to me. I was heading back to Bragg to see my younger son in Womack AH for apnea. My brood mare wasn't watching him as he tried to extricate himself from the high chair. He got caught on the middle strap and near choked to death.

I remember arriving in Vietnam 50 years ago last Fall, it's a memory that is ingrained deeply and is mine alone, that terrible place changed a nineteen year old enlisted into something this 72 year old feels in many different ways, some good some bad,Welcome Home Brothers.
