So, the idea is they asked 250 sailors their opinion on a uniform that they can wear to and from work... Do these sailors actually travel to and from work, or do they live onboard. Better yet, do they mind changing to go home? Find a uniform Navy, and stick to it!!! Adding all these new uniforms every few years is great for some O-6 or FO Fitrep, but the uniform allowance doesn't cover it, not all the patches and badges that need to be sewn on... Fix ships, get them manned, and conduct training. Leave the uniforms alone, because the Navy obviously sucks at it (raspberries, anyone?!??!). Sorry, this is one of my soapboxes.....

No this will be an operational uniform, for at sea only. The Type III will b e shore duty uniform and Home Port uniform. This new one is operational underway.

CPO (Join to see) - They say that now, but even in the article you read this, “We want the uniform to be worn at operational commands ashore, such as regional maintenance centers, shipyards, squadrons and hangers — places where you would typically wear the NWUs today, you would wear the two-piece fire-retardant variant.” That's not just underway.

That’s what my father wore aboard ship during WWII, SN Greg Wright! Here’s a photo of him (Ensign Jack Curlee) standing in front of the forward Welin davit on the starboard side of USS LST-78, c. May, 1945. LT Brad McInnis MCPO Roger Collins

MCPO Roger Collins - I am not one of them, I like your humor, it reminds me of the old Navy!

For years I used khakis bought from Sears. Looked good right out of the dryer and wrinkle free. Got me top 1% in appearance for many years. Don’t leave out the pisscutter (garrison cap), another favorite.

I hope the Navy realizes that "commuting to work" means that Sailors want to be able to stop at the store and go shopping, getting gas, etc. Having a uniform that you can only wear "door-to-door" is not optimal.
