Awe, how cute. More uniform nonsense instead of focus on battle readiness.

My personal opinion only, and I wear a beret, is that it is a silly looking hat. Now saying that will irk many of my fellow Air Force SF members as wearing the beret is a coveted uniform item in the Air Force. I will admit though that it does serve one valuable purpose in the Air Force as it readily identifies an armed SF member in an environment where everyone dresses the same. Besides that, I could go without it for daily wear. It serves no real function and is a horrible uniform item for protecting your head and face.
However, if we must have berets, they should be worn only in dress uniforms.
One more thing, if the US military feels the need for special hats I would prefer Stetsons, at least they are an American invention and not copied from the French. Military members from all over the world wear the beret which takes away its uniqueness.

Berets are typically for formal wear only unless in A.C.U's ,then it symbolizes a specially trained soldiers like airborne (maroon beret) or Rangers (tan beret) or SF (green beret)
