It's tough being reasonable in a climate of hysteria such as we have been experiencing since the most recent school shooting. You find yourself attacked from all sides when you voice an opinion from outside the popular binary options of the opposing masses. I suspect that this author may be setting themselves up for a lot of attacks.

Great article! Two other factors. Women are more mature than men of the same age. If women are allowed to buy guns at a younger age is that sexism? If people under 18 can’t sort out how to properly manage a firearm, how can they sort out the constitutional, criminal, and sociological implications of gun ownership and gunlaws? Seems counter intuitive but the left is letting them lead the charge!

My wife brought up the same point yesterday, and I agree with both you and her. It is time to recognize the real differences between men and women. This is not sexism. I would support women being allowed to buy guns at an earlier age than men, just as I support high physical standards for firemen and infantry (even if 99% of women can't pass that standard).

Col Joseph Lenertz - I agree. I am tired of the Bull Shit, and I am usually not so forth right , thatmen and women are the same! If you believe in God or evolution one or the other made us different for differant roles that are complimentary. Women have lower insurance rates etc because of higher maturity levels. You don’t see to many women attached to the saying “ here hold my beer”.

My wife has a CCW. She works at a place that has a "No Guns Policy." So we have a hardened hidden gun safe welded into her car. A pair of employees have been carrying on an extra-marital affair, and it spilled into the work place when an angry husband showed up looking for a fight and threatening violence."
One of my wife's co-workers is on a ladies soft ball league and brought her equipment bag into the office. My wife stepped into the lobby with a baseball bat and told him " ______ is unavailable, but if you want a fight stand right there long enough for me to count to 10." My wife is five foot nothing and about 130 lbs. He left before the cops showed up. Afterwards, the CEO (he wasn't party to the affair), who didn't come out of his office, said to my wife "I told you we don't need guns." She was not amused.
The angry husband and I are actually friends. He called up to apologize to my wife. She accepted his apology, but told him that if he ever showed up at work again, for any reason; the bat would have the first and last word in any discussion.
And yes, I told my wife to never do that again.

Jack this is a conversation that gets my BP up. Just an FYI I carried a S&W hammerless 5 shot .38 SPL for years on my ankle. It was a very little gun but it was very accurate. At 15 yards it would be bad if you were a target. At 7 yards it did not matter because you would get at least 1 or 2 rounds as your lifeless body fell to the floor. I love it! Strongly recommend for women, but not without training

I said I recommend for females, let me qualify that remark. I strongly recommend that gun for anyone who would be be carrying it a lot. I only carried mine concealed, when it was not concealed it was in someones face. FYI when I was roaming the earth looking for terrorist, I was roaming the earth looking for drug dealers.

My wife has a S&W that matches your description. Great ccw pistol, I 'd like one for myself, but my meat hooks are just to big for it. My ring finger keeps slipping of the grip. Our local gun dealer say it can be fitted with larger grips but he won't order them unless I pay for them 30% restocking fee.

Maj John Bell - John I think you can do better keep looking man. There are lots of options out there. You have only one gun shop? Do you have a shop where you can fire a gun? Most place dont but that would be best. I like a double action hammerless and I think you can get one in a lager frame, hell I am sure of it. I like the hammerless because that was one less thing you had to worry about if was in your waist band.

LTC Jeff Shearer - I'm still looking. To me a poor fit in the hand is a deal breaker. But I'd like the smallest comfortable fit I can find.
I farm and 85% of the time I'm in overalls. My wife's aunt is a great seamstress and she's put custom interior holster pockets in my bibs. Even the people that know I carry can't tell when I'm carrying and when I'm not. But a hammerless revolver is still really appealing.
The nearest gun shop is about 45 miles. The nearest one with a range is about 60. All my buddies carry semi-automatics and their revolvers are long barrel "dirty Harry hand cannons."
