Two 8mm machine guns, probably had the same chamber pressure as the 5.56.

Title of the article does not match the text, I guess the editors and writers don't know much about guns. Also their information is just flat wrong.
They are comparing chamber pressure of rifles and tanks in the article and somehow comparing that to how hard the round hits. Then they say the 5,56 has a chamber pressure of 45,000 psi. But 5.56 has a max chamber pressure of 55,000 PSI. Most recent new rifle cartridges run around 65,000 PSI. Heck the 112 year old .30-06 runs at 60,000 PSI. So many rifles are running about the same chamber pressure as a MBT gun.
