Two years after the Defense Department ordered the Marine Corps to open all combat arms career fields to women, less than 100 women have successfully entered those previously male-only jobs.
A total of 92 women are operating in a multitude of combat billets across the Corps, from rifleman to armored reconnaissance to combat engineers.
Yet only 11 enlisted women are serving today in the traditional “03” infantry career fields, Marine Corps officials said.

This is what happens when reality meets wishful thinking. It's just science, not misogyny, that very few women can equal men in physical exploits. And before those of you prone to being easily offended lay into me (which, I don't give two shits about), yes, such women exist. But they're statistical outliers.

Cpl Jeff N. - Respectfully, you can do your own research. I've done mine. Special Forces in Norway, Israel, Soviet Union, many others. It's not a new concept. Oh, and by the way, I went through OCS with women, Officer Basic and Advanced and CAS3 with women, served with women in combat in Iraq in 2004-2005, one of whom earned the Silver Star (Leigh Ann Hester), and they can definitely hold their own, and then some. Hand-to-hand? I distinctly remember getting my ass FLIPPED in HTH combat training by a female soldier half my size. Maybe we should get rid of female sports, too, eh?

MAJ Montgomery Granger - Thanks for not answering the question directly. If you had an example of all female infantry units that were effective and successful I am sure you would have offered it up in a nanosecond.
Your anecdotes about getting flipped or women serving in the armed forces honorably is not the topic. It is women serving in line infantry and other combat arms MOS's.
As it relates to sports, you may want to look into that just a bit. Almost every sport that requires any serious physical prowess is segregated by sex today (track, swimming, baseball/softball, basketball, hockey, skiing, bowling, snowboarding, I could go on but you get he drift). Even Golf, has women's tee boxes.
No one is suggesting we get rid of women's athletics either, nice distraction though. Why do you think we have them separate today? The answer is that it allows women to compete against women so they can excel in their sport. If they were forced to compete against men they would effectively be blocked out. Let that thought ruminate around for a minute.
So, do you honestly think you could train up a platoon of women Marines that could outpace, outfight, out hump or outperform an all male Marine infantry platoon or are you going to dodge that direct question too? I served with a fair number of women Marines and I have no doubt that they are some of the best women we have in the armed forces today I know better than to think they could grab the gear and do that job.

I spent four years in the USMC I am a woman and I agree with you we shouldnt lower standards for eqaulity the world isn"t fair and men & women are different physically men have a advantage they are stronger its called tetesrome. There have always been women who are exceptional physcally and can hold there own in a male dominated roles that require physical strength and endurance , but these women are not common . It piss's me off when libreals try to say we are the same. I'm a realists and the reality is we are not eqaul. I had to work three times as hard as the men in the USMC liberals please dont undermine my accoplishments by saying we are equal Semper Fi to all the proud women marines and Orahh to the the very few women in infantry you are exceptional. 1997-2001 My proudest accoplishment in the USMC marine combat training women started this traing in 1997 every marine became a riflemen that year Godbless are women service members

That kind of follows the line that very few women wanted those jobs anyway. So they turned the entire system upside down for a small minority of women who think they can compete physically without a modification of the combat related training. Now lets force women into STEM educations who didn't really want to be in those fields anyway.

Look at the Navy, they do have woman in Naval Special Operations, NSO (AIRR (Swimmers), Divers, EOD, UCT), but the % is small. This is where they thought they would get some for BUD's and SWCC, but zero Packages from woman already working and qualified for Special Operations Programs, so what does that say. Most woman do not want that type of life style, because this is what it is a Life style period. They also went for the NECC and NSW support elements, but got 0. The only two they had one enlisted RECRUIT for SWCC, dropped, and one from the Academy, she dropped day one in preselection for BUD's officers. So point is not many woman are going to want to do those jobs, they should not make it a big deal in media, just keep it open , and no quotas, if they make it, they do if not try another day, or go away.
