I think this is an excellent move in the right direction COL Charles Williams - I don't know of my basic training was more difficult in 1975 than it was for a soldier that went through Basic Training in 2016, but I'll bet it was, or at least in mind it was. DI didn't have to call you by your last name and the majority of them were combat veterans who served in Vietnam. If you wanted to take on a DI beware. i truly believe we need overhaul the fitness program, extend the training, and make it tougher for the future wars and engagements that soldiers will face. I further believe that resilience training for the affects of PTSD should be incorporated in advance, so that newly assigned soldiers have that in their tool box. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing the article Charles!

COL Mikel J. Burroughs Incorporating PTSD defensive training into BCT and AIT is a great idea!

Are any RPer’s aware of possible differences between Marines and other US Military Personnel in being afflicted with PTSD?

A recent USMCRD San Diego graduate, (Nov 2018), spoke of fellow recruits crying themselves to sleep at night. I personally have no problem with that amount of stress.

Question: Does training under such stressful conditions fortify service members against the ravages of PSTD?

CW5 Jack Cardwell ... Yes, in 1980 when I rolled in we just started the 3 event (current) test, but the 5 event test was still much talked about... I agree, we have been discussing this for year, but many reasons... it was easier to stay the course.
