I've come to regard the word "terrorist" as far too general and ambiguous. The reality is that there are ideologies that do not "coexist", never have...never will. Some competing philosophies can find balance within limited law, some require only a "battle" within the mind and heart, and others cannot find a place without violent conflict. When an ideology is based upon a cult of personality, a government, or even a physical location...it can be "defeated" by removal or conquest of the same. However, when those philosophies transcend individual leaders, laws or nations...they exist so long as there is even one person willing to adhere to them.

ISIS is multifaceted. They are a terrorist group, an arm for Allah trying to create a caliphate. They are an organized money laundering organization, drug dealers, organized crime, business people and exporters of Sharia and all that goes with it.
When they attack in the west we typically call it terrorism as it does partly fit that description but they are an insurgency with desires to take and own real estate. They got really close under our last administration to getting there. The last year the received a wake up call. They will be back in another form soon, somewhere.
Until we address and resolve what is being taught to their youth in the mosque's and madrassas we will continue to have to confront this problem.

Goodness Sir.
Is ISIS a terrorist group? To us, yes. But, to the Ummah they are following Muhammad's orders to form a Caliphate.
The world system just does not want that Caliphate. Right? It appears, the Sunni Caliphate will be ran by Turkey and the Sunni one by Iran. Maybe, I am wrong.
Anyway, we are not naming the enemy Sir. Are we still hoping COIN works within a 7th century culture that condons slavery and child sex?
How many Islamic countries support Sharia law? All of them.
Islam is the enemy. Not 1% of the Ummah. The ideology called Islam is being brought into the West for the reason to destroy culture. It plays it's role well. Willingly.
It does not matter how many good men want to make a deal with that part of the Ummah that wants peace. That is not Muhammad's order.
Best of luck to you LTC. Please remember, the Mosques and Madrasahs are global and teaching Muhammad's orders. It is the will of the one true god if the Kaaba.

Always enjoy reading your comments Mark! I think the Shia Caliphate just went into decline - hit its high water mark yesterday. We shall see - but think that attack was the turning point towards the beat back that has long been coming. We in the West tend to be stuck in our thinking - I agree on that - we missed that IS changed the fight and went from physical territory to other things... and our senior leadership can not grasp that.... nor that as an insurgency -- they do not have to hold territory.... instead it is the current powers that have to try to hold it.. We missed the chance to really turn this by confronting them and thinking we had to retake territory - vs forcing them to hold it and kill as many as we could until they could not manage their ideology or the casualties. Tactical victory and yet a strategic non win.

Thank you for your reply LTC.
Just so you know, I am not being sarcastic towards you. It appears, we are not understanding the enemy on purpose. As if we want reality to be what it is not and will write the narrative to suitable information. Even if it is far from the truth.
Have a great day Sir.
