People who point at the other side as the problem and ignore the big picture are just engaging in mental masturbation. Remember Gabrielle Giffords? Remember Charlottesville? See, it's easy and makes us feel good.

The reality is the level of civil discourse has been decreasing all around, and yeah occasionally that's going to bubble up in violence. It doesn't help that we now have a POTUS who's encouraged it in his speeches.

Whistling past the graveyard.

LTC (Join to see) - Nancy Pelosi has half a head on her shoulders. She is trying to save the election. With what happened in NY with more Socialist Progressives calling for ICE to be disbanded, I don't believe Ms. Pelosi will be successful. The Democrats are bowing to their fringe elements for everyone to see, and everyone doesn't agree with them by a long way. We will see when the election gets here. If the Democrats don't take over the House the way they should, I believe we will see much more violence.

SFC (Join to see) - why are you saying that the dems should take over the house? Is it because you believe that the repubs are doing such a bad job that the dems "should" win?

LTC (Join to see) - I believe the Republicans are doing a fair job but they don’t really have or want the conservative values that President Trump has, and the Tea Party also has for that matter. No, I say the Democrats should take over the House because that’s usually what happens when one party controls all of Congress and the Presidency. The only problem here is the Democrats don’t really have a message. It appears the Democrats have settled on Illegal Immigration and separation of illegal alien families as “their issue” for this next election. Time will tell if it’s a winner for them, personally I don’t think it will be.

I don’t believe there are any differences between RNC and DNC Politicians anymore. They are one in the same. In this case the Republicans are just riding the coattails of President Trump, who has made a very strong connect with very large groups, this is why the Lefties are going crazy. They are trying anything legal and illegal to try to kill Trump’s Presidency, and when it doesn’t work they just can’t take it. Very many are like little children that have no self control.

One idiot spray painting a column does not constitute "the left". That's half the problem right there. The left and right do not exist as single entities, so blanket statements like that are neither fair, nor accurate.

MSG Stan Hutchison - What you say is true. People can make statistics say almost everything, that’s why I like to see the raw data and what assumptions that go into any analysis I see. Usually one can get a pretty good idea if they’re getting a snow job if they look at things objectively. Speaking only for myself, I constantly have to guard against reading and seeing what I want to see. Human nature is human nature, and we all have a tendency to hear and see what we want to.

My opinion: During former President BHO the Socialist Progressives (Lefties) "said" they were in fear of violence... basically to get what that want and paint anyone who doesn't agree with them as haters. There has never been more orderly people than the Tea Party, they showed that event after event over the years. People were just too good natured to correct the Lefties for their wrong ways. Now that the good natured Conservatives have woken up and understand we are in a fight for our Country... our way of life that gives us the best standard of living of any country in the world all things considered; these Lefties aren't used to anyone challenging their opinion, and what they want doesn't stand up in honest debate. We currently have elected officials who encourage people to harass people they don't agree with anywhere, at work, at dinner, in public, at their personal residences... Where will it stop? It won't stop, it ends in violence when the Socialist Progressives realize they can't get what they want at the ballet box because most people don't agree with them. This article was spot on: These Socialist Progressives are true haters and are losing their mind because they can't get what they want.

He was not speaking figuratively. He told people at his rally that if they attacked a dissenter he would pay their legal fees. This is a fact.

I do believe HRC would have been significantly better.

I do detest the Electoral College, and believe it went out-of-date with the telegraph. People can be informed and make their own decisions in modern America.

That said, President Trump did play the smarter electoral game, and he did win. He is the President.

I appreciate your ability to be civil despite our disagreements.

LCDR (Join to see) - I am basically a counterpuncher. I usually respect people and want to be respected, and like anyone else, sometimes I do wake up on the wrong side of the bed. You have always been respectful to me, I try to be the same. In you I sense an honest exchange of ideas without any malice that I sense in some others on your side of the fence. I can see you are a true believer, please don’t take any pictures of secret stuff or discuss any confidential information on a nonsecure line, I don’t believe you would be afforded the same justice provided your favorite for President.

One last question: How long do you believe our Country will last as the United States of America once the Electoral College is done away with. It a rhetorical question, I just what you to give it some honest thought.

I honestly don't know how that would play out, but I do believe it's outdated. It is a relic of a time when people weren't allowed to govern themselves based on the fact there's no way they'd have all the information to make decisions. That's no longer the case.

I understand how you and others feel. Popular vote is very appealing, yet from what I know a true Democracy has never survived for very long. What you say is true, our system of government was created in part to save people from themselves, there were other reasons also. I believe our Founding Fathers were very wise people who understood that it isn’t good for the population centers to rule an entire large nation (that would create a kind of slavery). That’s one of the reasons we have the Electoral College… in addition to reserving all rights to the States that weren’t mentioned in the Constitution. They understood that for a people so large and spread out over different regions one law might not be good. This is the main notion that people have trouble understanding in current times. Our Government was set up to respect the rights of all, except non-white people; and that was necessary for the “buy in” for our Country to be created. It took time and a very large war to correct, and an even longer time before all people are treated the same. Some would say we still aren’t there. We are; only no government can erase all bias, it will always exist, not just for people of different color, but religion, non-religion, etc. For the last 50 years our Federal Government has been trying to entice States to give their rights to the Federal Government. That’s happened in part by laws that are not Constitutional Amendments, I can think of 2 laws that have reshaped our society by taking States Rights. I rambled on long enough, I don’t want to bore you further.
