This is a post from July 26, 2016. It came from a blog on InEveryMoment.net. I am posting again because I believe it shows the heart of our problem today. Whether you agree or not, we should all try to evaluate the true problems we face today, and instead of adding to the hate, try to look at things from more than one side, which is usually our own side. Knowing some or many will disagree, it is on my heart, so I must post. God bless all of you.

We are all watching the 2016 Presidential campaigns very closely, and every day I get a bit closer to the striking realization that there will be absolutely nothing that any of the candidates can do to make America great again? Why, you may ask?
It’s simple; it’s because the candidates care nothing about actually fostering any cooperation between the two parties. Now, I have my Democrat friends who will say that the Republicans are unwilling to work with them to foster any significant changes in policy in any area to improve our lives. I also have Republican friends who will swear it is the other way around. I’m in the middle, thinking that both friends are letting the politicians use them to get what they want.
Here’s why, and it’s simple. If your Democratic politicians (not the voting class person, the politicians) actually had your best interests
at heart, they would work towards making progress. The same for the Republican politicians, they are only concerned with talking about how uncooperative the Democrats are, at the very same time the Democrats are stating how uncooperative the Republicans are.
That being said, as long as our politicians in Washington cannot get together to vote even one significant piece of legislation through that will actually help Americans, and not just Democrats or Republicans, it will be on us to make this Country “Great” again.
I hope you have made it this far, because I want to share something with you:
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
-Romans 12:9-16
This will break it down for you, and it is this simple. Our Democratic Party and our Republican Party have been, and will be for some time now, the biggest hurdle our Country has to jump over, because it is no longer about what is best for the Country, it’s about what is best for the party, and that is a long way from what this Country was built on.
This scripture from Romans explains exactly what it will take to make our Country “Great” again. Love everyone sincerely, and yes, it is possible. Hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Notice, and this is very important, it doesn’t say that you should hate the person, just the deed. My best explanation is that I believe that homosexuality is a sin. My belief that it is a sin does not change the sincere brotherly love that I have for my friends who are homosexual. My love for them will always be there, for it is what we are called to do. We should be devoted to one another and strive to live in peace and harmony instead of in war and strife. We have to swallow our pride, and there will come a time when you will have to turn the other cheek, and believe me, it takes a much stronger man to turn that cheek than it does to respond with anger.
Our Country is torn straight down the middle this year, and I fear it is worse than any which I have seen in the past, and this election is spurring on more violence, hate and deception than any that I can remember.
As Christians, we have to accept the fact that it is supposed to be us that makes this change, not the President. The President is simply responsible for ensuring the security of this Country and handling foreign relations through appointed representatives. The Church is supposed to help keep others on the path, to go and teach the word and to win people to Christ, and this is the way to affect a change to make America “Great” again.
Study this scripture from Romans. Test yourself by it, and see if your stance on politics and your speeches on the subject reflect this. Do your comments seem to encourage healthy friendly debates, or do they spiral downhill into a barrage of cursing? I can tell you from experience, there is a way to talk to others who do not believe as you do without turning it into a brawl; I do it all the time, stepping into a political debate, outnumbered and outgunned, and come out without an injury, and there are no casualties from either side.
How do I do it? Simple, I understand that everyone has developed their opinions based on their research and life experiences, the same way I have developed mine. So, what makes my opinion that much more valuable than theirs? Just because I think I am right? Well, bad news, the other person thinks they are right as well.
We have to be willing to admit and validate others views even if we do not agree with them, because it will be the only way that our Country will experience this healing. It definitely will not come from the Oval Office, and it’s not because of incompetent leadership, it’s because of a society of people who each have to be right, about everything. Politics has a way of really bringing this out in people.

Have been saying this for a long time. Term limits are a great equalizer, but then you have people learning the job when elected. No one has corporate knowledge of how the machine works. Contribution control only works so long- someone will be in someone's pocket soon. Just in awe at how we do not try to find that middle ground. We hold the power, yet never use it. Great post my brother.

Great comments Maj Marty Hogan! It’s amazing to me how hard it is for people to simply talk to each other.
I guess we’re going to have everyone sit around the table together and start a group text to fix our problems. Won’t be long until the native language for the United States is TEXT.
