1LT (Join to see) That is awesome news. Seems like it should have happened a looong time ago.

Perhaps so, MSgt Stephen Council. However, I know the ALARNG quite well. I personally don’t believe that the organization would have tried to stifle black females from becoming aviators.
The first black men graduated from Alabama’s state Army OCS program in 1973. The first white females graduated from the same program in 1975 (5 years before women were commissioned from the USMA and a year before they were admitted) with black females following shortly thereafter. I could go on and on about the ALARNG and its leading edge involvement in embracing minorities. The Adjutant General of the State of Alabama is a female. A black male was just promoted to major general. Although 1LT (Join to see) is in the WVARNG, she’s a graduate of the 200th RTI, which is the OCS successor organization to the ALARNG’s old state Army OCS program, and one of the premier Army officer candidate schools anywhere in the country.
I simply hope that your comment is not a veiled indictment of the ALARNG and its treatment of blacks. Although I can’t speak for 1LT (Join to see), I would like to think that she’d agree.

LTC Stephen C. My comment was in no way an indictment of anyone or institution. My comment was me being honestly surprised that this hadn't happened years ago.

Many thanks, MSgt Stephen Council. I should have asked what you meant rather than be unnecessarily defensive.
