Even though I'm a very pit Soldier, I foresee back problems for many of these soldiers. Time will tell if I'm wrong.

Not trying to argue, but if you're concern is due to the deadlift, they have been using the deadlift in recruiting for the last few years. Individuals can represent the most untrained and weak here. There have been zero injuries reported either at the recruiters, MEPS or BCT. The trap bar DL is the right way to implement this into the force.

Many aspects are still being looked at. Alternate exercises are being drawn up.

I agree. It's not just about the test, it's about changing the culture of health and fitness. There are definitely some roadblocks to overcome and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes a bit before full implementation, but I think it's a step in the right direction. It's part of a more holistic approach to fitness that can increase readiness and keep Soldiers healthier in the long term.
