It is kind of ironic how the Marine Corps got the license to use the Canadian digital camouflage back in the late 1990s. The US Army decided to come out with the ACU which was really stupid back in July, 2004. It looks like the Army finally did it right because now the Canadians want to use our multicam pattern. 500 million Canadian dollars will buy you a quite a few leopard tanks or take care of a lot of other issues within the Canadian military. Too bad they couldn't keep what they have already. At least they didn't make the mistake getting something similar to the ACU uniform Fiasco. I am still upset at the Army making us all have to get rid of our desert camouflage boots and by the Coyote Brown Boots, something which I think is very odd, starting in October of 2019. Talk about a waste of money. How many of you have about three or four pairs of desert desert camouflage boots at home?

I remember reading an article back in the day of why the Army didn’t choose the MARPAT uniform. Their excuse for creating their own pattern instead of using MARPAT was that the USMC uniform contained black in its color spectrum. According to the article, the color black does not occur naturally in nature. In other words it’s a man made color. So the Army has to create its own pattern that did not contain black.
I know it sounds crazy, but that’s what I read.

Thank you, for your recollection. I think it is crazy that we have to get rid of the desert tan Boot and go for a darker Hue coyote brown boots. Someone's making money on this one!

SMSgt Thor Merich What I have read is that the USMC has something like or has a trade mark on MARPAT and wouldn't let the Army use it.
