I don’t know about all that but the historical case for Taiwan is muddled. Like many island nations during periods of colonialism has changed hands by invaders. The real question is “if Taiwan was truly an independent nation could it survive on its own merit?” After all some say Hawaii would falter if it wasn’t a state. Puerto Rico on the other hand may thrive is Us gave up territorial rights and allowed them to establish themselves internationally without a mainland government that treats them like an unwanted stepchild. That’s what Taiwan is, the unwanted stepchild of China that they won’t let move out and be independent.
