Why is everyone so hung up on dogfights? Their day is past, just like the tommy gun. Aerial combat of the future, and current, will be conducted from missile range in the worst case, not up close dog fights.

If we go into a massive war, I wonder if we can increase productions of weapons?

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Those in the know said the B24 could only be produced 1 a day, but, willow run ran 1 a hour.

The F-15SA is a pretty hot bird. I don't know if there is a more advanced version than that. Undefeated in aerial combat. Pretty bad ass bird still today. It was the first modern fighter I supported. The mighty F-4 Phantom II being the first.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - That's interesting. Was it better pilots or the variable wing the factor do you think?

We were always told it was because F-15 engines were designed and tuned for the air they get at altitude while FB-111 engines were designed and tuned for the air they get at low altitude. No engineer but air at low altitude is denser than air at altitude so guessing F-15 couldn't get enough air for optimum engine performance.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - That makes sense. I'm sure some engineer could tell us the particulars! LOL
