Unless there is proof he attempted to force participation or held non participation against others this one will likely go nowhere. Having a website that allows him to practice his faith is not against any law, civilian or military. He has the freedom to express his faith as other have the freedom not to practice.

Cpl Jeff N. - I agree with you, and that is really where I was going with it. They need to investigate the complaint and close it because it seems to be meritless (at least to me).

Cpl Jeff N. - it would appear that the general is not in compliance with the CSAF directive of 9/1/11 on maintaining command neutrality towards religion, and any action that includes the "apparent use of their position to promote their personal religious beliefs" on others. Here, the general linked his official bio to the website, which falls into the "apparent use" prohibition.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I'm not surprised you would see it that way as you are in the atheist camp. Any expression of religion is aberrant to you. We shall see. I suspect nothing will come of this accusation. He cannot help that he is an air force officer. His bio is his bio.

Cpl Jeff N. - you misstate my position. I have no issue with people privately practicing their religion. I have an issue with general officers not following the guidance of the CSAF, and I have a problem with a general who has created a perception of religious discrimination in violation of that guidance. You have over 40 service members who complained in this instance. That's a problem.

If he wants to pray on his own time and not impose it on the service members at Edwards AFB, I'll have his back.

If the website is private (I.e. not a Government provided venue), and if the General is extending an OPEN invitation to all who visit the site, then this amounts to another case anti-Christian bigotry...a clear attempt to use a misinterpretation of the US Constitution to persecute a man of faith.

Really, Capt Gregory Prickett? I find it interesting that you've not provided a solitary shred of evidence to prove otherwise. I suppose we should all just now to your eminent authority on such matters simply because you bothered to post a contrary opinion?

LTC John Wilson - you might try reading the other comments on this thread. First, in 2011, after Congress investigated the Air Force for discriminating against non-evangelicals, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force issued guidance that commanders were to avoid any appearance of an endorsement of religion, to the point that the CSAF explicitly stated that religious issues were to be handled by chaplains, not commanders. Second, his website gives the appearance of improper command influence as he has made a point to link his official USAF bio to his website. Third, over 40 service members, both officer and enlisted, including a majority of Christian service members, came forward to complain, before the MRFF filed the complaint on their behalf.

I find it interesting that you speak of a "misinterpretation" of the U.S. Constitution without specifying what is misinterpreted and by who. Why don't you expand on that and we can look at the actual case law from the Supreme Court--you know, the guys that the Founding Fathers expected to interpret the law.

Here they go again. It's all in the preposition, "of" or "from". Funny thing is that neither appears in the Bill of Rights. The general has as much right to his religious beliefs as everyone else has to theirs. I see nothing in the complaint as stated in this report that he was attempting to impose his beliefs on anyone in his command. However, belligerent atheists aren't willing to stop there, are they? They often seem to me to be prosletyzing with all the fervor of Seventh Day Adventists
