The Germans are not very accepting of immigrants. There are 3rd and 4th generation people who speak perfect German and have tried to asdimilate but are still treated like outsiders

SSG Jessica Bautista - You have no clue. When you have been here for 3 generations legally, with a US passport and BC, no one tells you that you are not a citizen, that you are not welcome. You are one.

That hasn't been my personal experience, so please don't patronize me. Race is a fact of life for minorities. We don't get the luxury of pretending it doesn't exist.

SSG Jessica Bautista , all I am saying is that people in the US are quick to equate their experience with situations elsewhere. We are not perfect here. I have felt the discrimination sting, but it isn't like other places. South America, where many of my students come from is highly discriminatory
