When I was typing in college, I could only type like 12 to 15 words per minute on the old Motorola selectric typewriter. Years later, due to American online, I was typing 35 to 40 words per minute in a chat room when American online became Unlimited in 1997. Practice makes perfect.

LTC (Join to see) To Graduate A-School You had to Type 30 WPM on a Mod 28 Electro-Mechanical TTY and read 50 Characters Per Minute of TTY Tape. On Your Pars for E-6 You had to Type 35 WPM. When I Typed Out for E-6 I typed 39 WPM.

Remember the sonar technician on the USS Dallas in the movie Hunt for Red October? He said that his computer was originally designed to look for whales. Did that equipment have any resemblance to the real thing? The u.s. Navy I'm sure helped with that movie cuz it was definitely putting the American Navy in a positive light. I know that when they were filming the movie doctor Strangelove, the u.s. Air Force was shocked to find out how accurate the inside of the B-52 look like and the portion of the electronic warfare officers Scrambler looked very similar to the real thing. I realize that you may have former British and USAF movie technicians come up with something similar to what they recall seeing on a bomber.

LTC (Join to see) - They Bent Over Backwards to get You Through so it was mostly a Success Stories, When it came to Typing I barely Irked thru but when it came to Circuit and T-Com Theory, I Rocked the House. One of the Systems that was used to Track Russian Subs was SOSUS Red, which was turned over too the Whale Scientist at the End of the Cold War. A lot of what We Did was "Signature" Work. Whether Audio (SONAR), Electrical (Radar) or Communications (Transmitters) everything has a Signature. Even If Two Units Use Exactly the Same Equipment there are Subtle Differences that We Learned to Recognize. With that "Signature" We Could Name the Unit. Yes the Movie was Very Accurate and "Crazy Ivan" really was a Thing. Caused a Wonderful Collision Underwater between a Russian and US Sub (Don't Worry Both Survived).

Maj Robert Thornton I remember taking My Children to the Smithsonian American History Museum when they were little and once I heard the TTY I Made a B-Line for It and Spent a While on it. My Children didn't understand at the Time the Importance and My Fascination.
