Does this mean we're going to break out the Blue Books again and line up in big three squad deep formations and shoot muskets across 100yrs at each other? Will you be back on horseback yelling commands no one but you can hear?

Yeah I found it safer in the rear than front of the formation.

Hmmm pretty soon we’ll go back to LBE/LCE’s, Alice larges, and BDU’s. Sometimes you have to wonder why we dropped some parts of our past, just for some egghead to come up the ranks, make a think tank, and voila!! Let’s do some converting of units to fight the possible Russian threat! Let’s dust off some old ass regulations rename em and call them something new so we get credit for it.

Yes, because President Obama said climate change was the biggest threat to this world. The sea levels are rising and we know it but the biggest threat is we have the Russians with their new armata tank and they are building up their forces along with the Chinese and the Iranians. Even though War as we know it will not be the same as it was during Desert Storm, we still can't just rely on the F-35 to do everything LOL

LTC (Join to see) - We can't rely on the F35 to do anything except make more headlines about something on it not working as designed....from 20yrs ago. The F-3 is the ultimate in "I will destroy your training budgets for the next decade". When the Russians can finally make something that actually runs (has to have wheels, tracks, not leak plutonium everywher), doesn't require a jump or tow, and can make it through a Putin ego parade, let me know. I'll actually watch this debacle happen.

But the ONE thing we in the Army can be certain of is you will have a CSM/1SG who looks just like this (officers don't know how to look like this. Y 'all actually are taught how to properly use cutlery) after a three or four day weekend. Even after ALL of the safety briefings telling you what not to do, and it'll be done by the loudest most "Hooah" asshole in the unit. I don't know of anyone enlisted who hasn't seen this look after a long weekend. I've been on the receiving end of it a FEW times before the four day that was scheduled for the next month even came up. Damn Russians...…..

SFC David Bentley - I've seen those posted on here. Not sure I'd want to be in one, but at the same time, the ROE's back then I bet were a lot looser, plus you could carry a lot more ammo in that big ass open vehicle than I could in my Cougar (and I LOVED my damn Cougar).

You're damned right that the Army always makes a full circle. You would think that all someone would have to do is read lessons learned from decades back to see maybe this isn't a "new" idea, it's an idea we should've left alone and in place as it was, but we have to justify your senior or flag level position so call it something "new', write a cool FM (ala FM-3-24 maybe) and give it a "sexy" name like COIN.

Seems like they should move them to Europe.

That would take awhile due to the transformation process.

Stop making sense SGT. I mean we only had 1AD in various spots over there, 3rd BDE, 1st ID, but Russia suddenly became a "non-issue" so we brought em home. Now you have 173rd in Italy and the rotational elements.....yup seems about right in Army logic
