I found a painting in the Imperial Light Infantry Museum on the Battle of Milan in 1848 - and took to task finding out where was the location and who were the units. The current gate area does not have the rise in terrain (protective ditch) nor the tower in the back. However a 1700 era drawing showed this gate to have that.
