Bombs, bombs and more bombs...
We've all heard about the bombs that were mailed to prominent Democrats in the last few days. Nothing new there, what I found interesting in this article is x-ray of one of these devices. Many years ago I had the opportunity to attend a class on counter IEDs, back then the IRA was the biggest threat regarding bombs, but I learned a lot about improvised explosives.
What I find interesting here (x-ray of device) is the simplistic nature of it. Will be interesting to follow this investigation to see who is behind this BS.
I know we have some bomb techs on RP, what are your thoughts on this?

I'm loathe to bring politics into the fray, but I'm afraid someone already has. my guess it it's the extreme right hoping to scare voters away from the polls in a couple weeks

I think it may be Russian or Chinese to stir the pot. I think speculation is irresponsible. As stupidly constructed as they are this is either a test run for later or they will be captured quickly. None of the packages seem to have the stamps cancelled. I am wondering if it isn’t a postal worker who slipped the parcels into the system so they couldn’t be tracked back to the mail source. I believe we will know soon. The level of sophistication indicates Wiley Coyote May be a consultant.

During my UK tour we would often be sitting on the underground train waiting for suspicious packages to be cleared from the tracks.
When one of the IRA bombs detonated in one of the stations and killed an American, US sentiment changed, and a good bit of US funding of the IRA was lost to them. (Private US funding).

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - If memory serves... they fired a RPG at USAREUR commanders staff car, bombed the Hanu Officers club and an incident that was not reported, they attached a bomb to a tanker truck during a Reforger exercise, the device was set to detonate when the ignition was turned on and for whatever reason the driver actually performed PMCS that morning before starting the vehicle... There was the Berlin nightclub bombing. The Red Brigade out of Italy was big on kidnapping, they captured General Dozier.
