Not going to lie....that article was seriously a one-sided and biased piece. Now, having it read it, at least three times, I fail to see where the President blames the victims. The article and the title of the article leads the reader to assume that President Trump said it was the victims fault. I'm no solid fan of POTUS Trump, just like I was no solid fan of POTUS Obama.....but at no time in the article nor in the quotes that were used.....and let's face it, most "journalists" will use bits and pieces when and where they can to justify their crap.....did the POTUS directly blame the victims as the article claims. I would dare to say that he didn't even indirectly state it was their fault. What he was saying was that IF they had protection, this could have ended differently. This is no different than someone saying "IF only the teacher was armed...." And yes, I agree with him that it's sad that we have to think and consider the fact that places that should be safe are no longer safe and have to move with steps to ensure safety, such as armed guards. Now, the journalist wrote an article stating their opinion, just as I have stated my opinion here. Can't say it's the right opinion, and I can't say it's a wrong opinion. It is just ONE opinion.

all the reader has to do is read trump's own words. "if they had somebody to protect people" "But it's a case where if they had an armed guard inside, they might have been able to stop him immediately." "If they had protection inside, the results would have been far better."

SrA John Monette - That still doesn't blow any air up my skirt to get me convinced the POTUS directly blamed the victims.

MSG (Join to see) - and we are all entitled to our opinions. I think it is more a case of not outright condemning the gunman. if he would simply do that, it might go a long way to restoring some of the trust that has been lost or was just not there from the beginning.

SrA John Monette - I do believe Trump strongly condemned the gun man and the hate. https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-condemns-shooting-as-a-wicked-act-of-anti-semitism [login to see]

Shouldn't have to have a guard on duty at a place of worship.

SrA John Monette -They used to make movies in which religious characters were portrayed in a positive light. Church’s were respected and religion was held in high regard. Today not so much.

We shouldn't need armed guards anywhere. But to protect ourselves from the crazies, maybe it's time to rethink "wishing in one hand and crapping in the other to see which one fills up first" policy, with respect to safety.

To your basic question, there should not be a need. But, the realization came about in 2007. We do not have sufficient funding to provide protection for all schools, churches, malls and everything else. Here is a single solution for one religion. Violent action against those that you disagree with is not new and will never be completely be eradicated.

that's interesting, Chief. I was not aware of this group. I certainly would rather see them around than armed security guards
